Welcome to the pre-assessment survey for the New Zealand Certificate in Animal Technology (Veterinary Nurse Assistant) (pre-requisite qualification for entry to the New Zealand Diploma in Veterinary Nursing)
This survey will assess whether you have the knowledge and experience to benefit from the Independent Learning Pathways (Assessment of Prior Learning or ILP) process, offered through Capable NZ. ILP is a service provided for individuals who have experience and existing knowledge in areas they have worked in, which can be measured against, and count towards formal academic qualifications.
In order to apply for ILP you should have at least five years' experience as a veterinary nursing assistant/veterinary nursing in a range of roles in companion animal veterinary clinics. You should also have developed a broad range of veterinary nursing theoretical knowledge and practical skills which we will ask you about shortly.
Valuable experience might be in any of the following areas:
